Clarksville to host its third Tennessee East-West All-Star Classic

Published Monday, November 18, 2019

Tennessee’s top 88 senior football players will once again compete in Clarksville for the Tennessee East-West All-Star Classic, scheduled to be played at Austin Peay State University on Friday, December 13.

“We’re very excited for the players and coaches who have accepted an invitation to be a part of Tennessee’s premier all-star event,” stated Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association (TACA) Executive Director Bill Marbet.

“Not only does this game showcase much of Tennessee’s high school football talent, it also gives players an opportunity to show college coaches from smaller division schools that they are worthy of consideration for scholarship offers,” continued Marbet.

Last month, TACA officials and Visit Clarksville announced a four-year contract to stage the game at Fortera Stadium in Clarksville. The contract solidifies the presence of the contest in Clarksville through the 2023 season.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Clarksville to families across the state of Tennessee, many of whom have never visited before,” said Visit Clarksville Chairman Kyle Luther. “While athletes are involved in daily practices, parents enjoy exploring the city and trying different restaurants. It’s just enough time to whet their appetite for a longer visit later.”

Marbet was also very complimentary for those in Clarksville who make All-Star Week such a memorable event. “All of us involved in staging this event are most appreciative of the support that people at Austin Peay, Visit Clarksville and Ft. Campbell have shown us,” he continued. “The memories our players and coaches take away from this game will last a lifetime.”

General admission tickets are $10 each for ages 3 and up. Kickoff for the game is set for 7:00 p.m. at Fortera Stadium. Area high school football players who are wearing their high school jersey and are accompanied by one of their coaches will be admitted to the game for free.
