Soul, R&B, county/rock, and dance sessions will be featured at the free Mic Check Monday concert series on July 15 at Downtown Commons.

Opening the event at 6:00 p.m. is Corey Michael Bryant, a country/rock/blues musician. Corey plays at the River Club on Friday evenings.

Ballroom Dance Studios will be on site, teaching a free dance until 7:00 p.m. All participants will have the opportunity to practice their moves they’ve learned to the live music that follows. No partner needed and no experience is necessary.

Taking the stage at 7:30 p.m. is vocal coach and soul/R&B singer/songwriter Angelia Williams. Angelia developed an early love for music and singing and was touring by age 14. She has performed, toured and recorded with gospel groups in Milwaukee, Wis. and performed in concert with mainstream gospel artists. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music and her voice studio received the Nashville’s Best Award in the category of Vocal Coach for 2013- 2018 consecutively.

Angelia is also an award-winning songwriter, holding The Akademia award for Best R&B/Soul Song in May 2017, and the Best Female R&B Artist award of 2018 from the Music City Hip Hop Awards. Her freshman EP release, “Both Sides of Love” became available on all digital platforms November 23, 2017. The LP, “Redefinition of Angie” was released April 3, 2019.

Presented by Visit Clarksville, CDE Lightband, and Downtown Commons, Mic Check Monday will offer different genres of music each Monday in July. All concerts will begin at 6:00 p.m. when weather allows.

No food or drink will be offered on-site. Guests may bring food and chairs, but no alcohol is allowed in the park.
