Mic Check Monday at Downtown Commons is a new free concert series presented by Visit Clarksville and CDE Lightband. Concerts will take place each Monday in June and July.
“We are asking local bands to submit an online application by May 6,” said Visit Clarksville Executive Director Theresa Harrington. “We’ll choose two or three from similar genres to perform each week and announce those in May. The generous sponsorship from CDE Lightband will enable us to provide a sound system, so our intention is that local folks can bring their instruments, plug in, and play. ”
Concerts will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday evenings when the weather allows. A performance schedule will be announced to the media and on visitclarksvilletn.com/music once selections are made.
No food or drink will be offered on-site. Guests may bring food, but no alcohol is allowed in the park.
“We know we have tons of local talent and hope to offer a variety of concerts over the two months,” said Harrington. “We hope to create a space where people of all ages can come, feel comfortable, and enjoy music together – and if they support local businesses by enjoying a meal or doing a little shopping before the concert, then that’s even better.”
